The Breville Impressions Gloss White Jug Kettle is an attractive, contemporary kettle thanks to a ribbed white design and light-up switch and water level indicator.

Features are basic but it’s lightweight and pours well, the lid design is our only real quibble with it.

The Breville is a modern-looking kettle with an attractive design. White plastic is a very practical material but it tends to make kettles look cheap, however the Breville’s ribbed texture looks superb.

It’s lightweight in the hand at 900g (jug only) but the lid design isn’t great because you have to pull it off by hand, it doesn’t pop up or tilt back. This means you’ll invariably fill from the spout. What’s more, the lid is small, so not a great design for reaching inside the tall kettle to give it a clean.

The white design is complemented with a power switch that lights up blue, as does the water level indicator.

Features-wise it’s a straightforward kettle though, with no choice of water temperature or keep warm function.

Breville Impressions Gloss White Jug Kettle – What’s it like to use?

You pretty much have to fill the Breville via the spout because the lid is a pain to remove and is small anyway. It fills fine via the spout though and the kettle feels nice and light in the hand.

Flick on the power switch and it lights up bright blue, as does the water level indicator. Practically speaking this is good, but it looks a bit lairy – like having UV lights under your car.

It took a 2m39s to boil a litre of water that started out at 14⁰C from the tap. We measured the temperature after 10 mins (84⁰C) and again after 30 mins (71⁰C). All these figures are respectable.

We also found that the spout poured well, whether fast or slow. In all, this is a well-designed kettle.

Should I buy the Breville Impressions Gloss White Jug Kettle?

Yes. It’s good value and does the job well. Our only real criticism is the lid design.

Another good-value kettle worth considering is the double wall insulated Tefal Safe to Touch Kettle. Or spend more on the beautifully designed Morphy Richards Prism Traditional Kettle or the feature packed Sage Smart Kettle.

Verdict

A nice kettle with an attractive, modern design. Shame about the lid.
